January Meeting Notes

Friends! What a fun way to spend Saturday morning. Thank you to everyone who brought something fun to see. I loved seeing the finished 75 Quilts from this session, and we even had a beautiful quilt that was a member's very first finished top. Hooray!
I don't know about you, but I wanted to go home with Amy Smart and sew with her in her studio, didn't you? So fun to see her in person, as well as some of her quilts. What an inspirational quilter! Photos of our class show-and-tell, as well as some of Amy's can be viewed through our flickr group. (We are updating tonight.)
We hope to see all of you and more back for Session #4 next month, see previous blog for more information. And please let us know if you have any questions or kind comments.
Happy quilting!

Session 4: Modern Medallion Mystery

Session #4 of our fun group begins February 16th & we are happy to announce the next 6-month project. This session we will be creating a....
Modern Medallion Mystery quilt!
Instead of a theme quilt/shape with a specific pre-cut packet of fabrics to get your juices flowing, we will be embarking on a new journey together.
Included in Membership:
1).  15% discount each meeting on all quilt shop purchases (regular price/no combined offers)
2.)  Each month for 5 months choose 2 free fat quarters (or the equivalent) to build your medallion quilt. We will begin in February with the 18.5" center of your medallion, whatever block or fabric you choose to make and use.
3.)  Each month Kristin, JoyLyn, Anna will show you a different example of the use of blocks in a border to build on, finishing 70x70" unless you keep on going.
4.)  Patterns & tutorials included. Links to great inspirational sites.

We're hoping you'll be inspired to add your own borders along with us and bring it to show along the way, as well as being inspired by our group's amazing show-and-tell. (Still my favorite part!)
Also this session, we will be splitting into two time slots available to class members: 9:30am and 11am. You can choose which time you would like when you register for this session. We are limiting each class to 30 people.  Registration for Session #4 starts January 24th, 9:00 a.m. in person or by phone @ Broadbent's.
Some other fun bits for this session:
  •  Another free sew-in afternoon
  • A gray fabric swap
  • 25% off binding and backing at the last class for your medallion quilt
  • An optional paper-piecing class taught by Anna
Here is a little taste of Kristin's center block.  Just TRUST us...this is going to be an amazing session!
