June Meeting in Review

Great meeting, Loved all the show and tell. It is always a treat to meet with you for
a couple of precious Saturday hours.  Check out flickr group for photos.

Ok, we covered a couple of ways to put curves into your quilts.....

Raw Edge:
The example Kristin prepared for us, here is a tutorial for that @ Cluck Cluck Sew
Her circles were spray-glued down and then the quilting holds your circles onto your quilt. Her pattern was a free pattern on Moda's website about 5 years ago.

Templates:  Acrylic or Paper
The machine foot that makes sewing them a breeze...."Curve Master" 1/4" foot (LINK)
NOTE: Make sure you get the Pink Package with the 1/4" foot.
JoyLyn shared her "Beach Ball" Quilt done using the "Curious Nature" free pattern  (LINK)

The method demonstrated in class is found many places, especially in the classic and valuable book Underground Railroad Sampler, by Eleanor Burns.

Here are the drunkard's path layouts shown in class today. Feel free to play around with this classic block yourself!

Here are some other rounded edges quilts I've seen around: here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here. I guess there's a lot I like.

Quiltsmart:  Foundation patterns printed on light weight fusible interfacing.

And last but not least INK LINGO DOWNLOAD design book of over 200 pages.
If you really explore this site, they have so many great resources for curved designs.

One thing I did forget to mention...between my coughing fits...thanks for being patient!
You can get accurately cut segments to piece drunkards path style blocks by using the AccuQuilt die cutter for fabric.  Wendy at Eagle Mountain Quilters has a machine which she is happy to let people use to cut their fabric.  A little training is required and she rents time out for very reasonable rates.

We will see you all in July for a trunk show.....Guests welcome!
