May Meeting in Review

As a reminder, please remember that June's meeting will be pushed to the 4th Saturday, to avoid the Shop Hop mayhem. June's meeting is Saturday, June 23rd at 930am.

Beautiful May brought people into our quilts, and here's some of what we shared.

Kristin showed a family heritage quilt with the name of each girl in her family. Here is a picture of the rows unsewn. The block finished roughly 11 x 12.75". Here are the measurements, starting from the top down.

Row 1: 11x1.5 blue
Row 2: 2 - 4.75x1.5 blue & 1.5 square skin
Row 3: 2 - 1.75 square blue, 2 - 1x.5 skin, 1x6.5 dress
Row 4: 2 - 3.5x5.5 blue, 4.5x5.5 dress
Row 5: 2 - 2.5x4.75 blue, .5x2.5 blue, 2 - .5x2.5 skin
Row 6: 2 - .5x3.75 blue, .5x.5 blue, 2 - .5x1.5 shoes

This is one my sister, Leslie, did a while ago that alerted me to how cool girls in dresses could be in a quilt.

We also talked a bit about paper piecing. JoyLyn's favorite tools are below. I was thinking of doing a tutorial online, but we decided we will do a paper-piecing class if there is enough interest.

Plus, some other versions of people here and here and here and here and here

We are also enjoying the stripe fabric exchange. We missed some of you this month, so please remember to bring all of your sets of 8" blocks to our June meeting, as we will be wrapping up the exchange and looking forward to all that you will do with them!

And finally, next month we will be showing the sample of the next session of classes, and introducing those exciting ideas, so don't miss out!
